Start a Site in Your Area

A key goal of the San Diego chapter of Girls on the Run is to make this amazing program available to all interested girls in all interested areas and we need your help!

We are looking for community advocates who can help us lay the groundwork to bring a Girls on the Run session to their area by identifying the following in their area.  We're here to support you every step of the way, but it is very important that you help us get things started!

Participants
Each site must have a minimum of 5 participants to begin sessions. Sites can grow to accommodate 18 girs before a second session is started.

Head Coach(es)
Each site must have at least 1 Head Coach who is willing and able to attend all sessions (2 per week for the 12 week session).

Assistant Coaches
Assistant Coaches must be willing and able to attend one session per week.  Each site should have a minimum of 4-6 Assistant Coaches so that there are at least 2-3 Assistant Coaches at each session.

The Site
Each site must have a place to meet!  This may be a school, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Health Club Campus, etc.  We recommend that there are alternate indoor facilities in case of inclement weather.

Generally, sites take about 1 year to launch; so if you are starting in January, your site would launch the following February.  If you are starting in the summer/fall, your site would likely launch the following September.
